Who are the Shoreditch Sisters?
The Shoreditch Sisters WI was established in October 2007 by founding member and past President, Jazz Domino Holly. Ten years later, the Shoreditch Sisters are a group of incredible, funny, intelligent, creative and just generally badass women.
We campaign on issues that we get angry about and we take to the streets to demand change, we sew things so beautiful that they make grown men cry, we press gang amazing speakers into coming to talk to us, we get drunk and sing Kate Bush songs, we bake cakes and eat them all in a single sitting, we talk about literature like we’re Parisian bohemians, we have a bicycle gang, we are radio stars that video didn’t even kill, we have a totes hilar blog, we can knit to a level that exceeds human comprehension and we meet amazing new lady friends at every single meeting. We’re also just a bunch of lovely ladies who like what the WI stands for and want to meet other lovely lasses.
Where and when?
We meet at Tindlemanor (52-54 Featherstone St, London EC1Y 8RT) on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm – 9pm (the room is open from 6.30pm).
What is a Women’s Institute (WI) anyway?
The WI is the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK! And it,
“plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.”
If you think it sounds fun, then please come join us! Pop along to a meeting as a visitor, you don’t need to let us know, just turn up. Alternatively become a member and come to a meeting every month. For more information about what we’re up to – Sign up to our monthly newsletter.
