Shoreditch Sisters get their bling on…

Pinterest Fail… or not

So August, clearly the time when people want to get their craft on! We were so happy to see so many of you joyfully abandon the sun and join us for an evening of jewellery making. The evening of crafting started with some basic (stolen from the internet) instructions on how to make rope necklaces and wire wrapped bracelets and off everyone went.

My first attempt at following my own instructions before the start of the meeting, put me very firmly in the Pinterest fail category, I ended up with the saddest bit of rope that I would struggle to get my dog to wear.

Not so, these ladies – we have some genuine gifted folk when it comes to crafting… it is the WI after all!

Forget about the price tag
Ain’t about the uh cha-ching cha-ching
Ain’t about the yeah b-bling b-bling

If any of our Shoreditch Sisters have a skill, hidden or otherwise that they want to share with the world (or the Shoreditch Sisters) and you could teach at a meeting – let one of the committee know. Or if you would just like to offer up a suggestion for a meeting, don’t forget you can email us at shoreditchsisterswi@gmail.com or you can hit us up on Facebook.

May 2013 Meeting AGM and Jewellery Workshop

May is when we hold our AGM.  It is our time to talk about what has happened in the last year and what we will do in the coming year. We will be voting on the next WI resolutions and electing new committee members. Only members can vote on new resolutions, so if you’re a member please come along to the meeting and have your say on the future of the group.
We will also be talking about the Save The High Street resolution, more information on the WI website here
http://www.thewi.org.uk/__documents/key-document-downloads/2013-agm-resolution-briefing.pdf

Please read the briefing before voting on it.

After the official matters, we have a jewellery workshop run by Lily of Frilly by Lily!

Lily has grown her business from a small Portobello Road market stall and will be coming to talk to us and show us how to up-cycle jewellery. Bring along any odd earrings, broken jewellery and other bits you may have inherited and make something new from something old or broken. If you don’t have jewellery to bring Lilly will be providing materials for you to use.
Read more about Lily here:

*Please note that the door tax for this meeting as a visitor will be £5 instead of the usual £4 to cover the cost of materials*

£5 for non-members free for members (membership opens again in October)

Both members and Visitors need to RSVP by Friday 24th May to shoreditchsisterswi@gmail.com with AGM Meeting as the subject line. This is so we can ensure there are enough materials for everyone.
There is tea, coffee and other drink for sale at BGWMC. Feel free to impress with your baking skills by bringing cake if you wish!

Come along alone, or with a friend- be prepared to leave with a few more!

See you there!
